Crimson Desert Fast Travel Guide

How to unlock and use every fast travel point across Pywel. Covering Abyss Nexus vs Abyss Crescent, PC/Xbox/PS5 controls, the #1 map filter mistake, hidden point locations, camp travel, and every fix for when it won't work.

🗺️ 1. How Fast Travel Works

Fast travel in Crimson Desert is point-to-point teleportation between activated Abyss locations. You cannot freely fast travel from anywhere — you must first discover and activate each fast travel point by exploring the world. Once activated, a point becomes a permanent destination on your map.

The system uses two types of points, both found inside "Mysterious Energy" zones — marked on your map as large fog-covered question marks (?). Head toward these markers when exploring new regions.

🔷 2. Abyss Nexus vs Abyss Crescent — Two Types of Fast Travel Points

🔵

Abyss Nexus — Walk-On Activation

Circular stone platforms and pedestals scattered across the world and inside major towns (e.g. near Hernand Castle). Simply walk onto the platform and stand still for a few seconds until it glows blue — the point is now permanently unlocked. These are the "easy" fast travel points. No puzzle, no combat — just step on it.

🟣

Abyss Crescent — Puzzle-Gated Activation

Pillars infused with abyssal energy hidden behind environmental puzzles, climbing challenges, or hidden doors. You must solve the associated puzzle — move objects, navigate obstacles, or find the hidden entrance — before the Crescent activates as a teleport destination. These reward exploration with fast travel access to otherwise hard-to-reach areas.

📍 3. How to Find & Activate Fast Travel Points

Step 1: Spot Mysterious Energy Zones

Open your map and look for large fog-covered question marks (?). These are "Mysterious Energy" zones — each one contains either an Abyss Nexus or an Abyss Crescent. Prioritize exploring these whenever you enter a new region.

Step 2: Locate the Point

Travel to the center of the ? zone. Pro tip: Use your Lantern or Blinding Flash ability — fast travel points glow blue when illuminated, making them significantly easier to spot from a distance or in dark environments.

Step 3: Activate

For a Nexus: walk onto the stone platform and stand still for a few seconds until it lights up. For a Crescent: solve the environmental puzzle (move objects, climb, find hidden doors), then interact to activate.

💡 The #1 early-game mistake: ignoring fast travel points until you need to backtrack. Activate every Nexus you pass — even if you don't need it now. These points become your road network across Pywel, and having them unlocked saves hours of riding time later.

📋 4. How to Teleport — Step by Step

StepAction
1Open your world map
2Set the map filter to "All" or "Environment"not "Quest" (Quest filter hides fast travel icons)

⏰ 5. When Do You Unlock Fast Travel?

Fast travel is not gated by story progression. It becomes available the moment you discover and activate your first point. The earliest Nexus is near Hernand Castle — simply walk onto the stone platform in the courtyard area.

However, the fast travel network grows with exploration. You'll find points in every region of Pywel, each hidden inside those Mysterious Energy (?) fog zones on the map. Activate as you go — the network is only as useful as the points you've unlocked.

🔧 6. Why Fast Travel Is Not Working — Troubleshooting

The single most common complaint. Here's every reason your fast travel might be broken and exactly how to fix it:

#SymptomCauseFix
1 No icons appear on map Map filter is set to "Quest" Switch the map filter to "All" or "Environment". The Quest filter hides Nexus/Crescent icons — this is the #1 cause of "fast travel not showing up."
2 Standing on platform does nothing Not a Nexus (might be a Crescent), or needs story progression Try solving nearby environmental puzzles. If it's a puzzle-gated Crescent, walking on it won't work. Check for hidden doors, climbable surfaces, or movable objects.
3 Can't select/click a point Point is not yet activated, or you're in combat Confirm the icon is blue/gray (activated), not fogged out (undiscovered). Fast travel is blocked during combat — finish or flee the fight first.
4 Teleport option grayed out In combat, carrying restrictions, or in a no-teleport zone Leave the restricted area, drop heavy carried items if applicable, or finish active combat. Interior spaces and certain quest areas may block teleportation.
5 Can't fast travel to camp Camp travel may require a specific upgrade or item Check your camp menu for a "Travel" or "Return to Camp" option. Not all camps automatically unlock as fast travel destinations — some require a camp upgrade purchased from vendors.
⚠️ The map filter fix cures 90% of complaints. If your fast travel icons vanished, you almost certainly switched the map to "Quest" filter. Open the map → change filter to "All" → icons reappear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do you fast travel in Crimson Desert?
Activate an Abyss Nexus or Crescent point → open map → switch filter to "All" or "Environment" → select an activated (blue/gray) icon → Double-click (PC) or Hold Y/Triangle (Controller) → confirm. You cannot teleport to undiscovered points.
Q: Why are fast travel icons not showing on my map?
Your map filter is almost certainly set to "Quest" — this hides all fast travel icons. Open the map and switch the filter to "All" or "Environment". Icons will immediately reappear. This accounts for the vast majority of "not showing up" complaints.
Q: When do you unlock fast travel?
Fast travel unlocks the moment you activate your first point — no story progression required. The earliest Nexus is at Hernand Castle courtyard. Simply walk onto the stone platform until it glows. The network then grows with every new point you discover inside Mysterious Energy (?) zones.
Q: Why won't it let me fast travel?
Three most common causes: (1) Map filter is on "Quest" — switch to "All". (2) You're in combat — finish or flee the fight. (3) You're trying to teleport to an undiscovered point — only activated (blue/gray) icons work. Also: interior spaces and certain quest areas may temporarily block teleportation.
Q: Can I fast travel to my camp?
Camp fast travel may require a camp upgrade or specific item. Check your camp menu for a "Travel" or "Return to Camp" option. Not every camp automatically becomes a teleport destination — some require purchasing a camp upgrade from vendors.
Q: How do I find hidden fast travel points?
Open your map and look for fog-covered ? (question marks) — these are "Mysterious Energy" zones. Each one contains either a Nexus or Crescent. Use your Lantern or Blinding Flash ability to make points glow blue from a distance, revealing them even in dark areas or behind obstacles.
